Gary Numan has made a number of attempts to begin a second career as an actor. So far he's had a number of auditions and screen tests, but has yet to actually appear on screen in any movie or TV program. Here are some of his efforts so far....

The Spice Girls weren't the only ones who started out as a five-piece act. Gary was cast as one of the Teletubbies, but it was just too damned hot in that suit. At least the headgear came in handy later on.

Gary failed the Baywatch audition because he'd had an acting lesson and so would not fit in with the rest of the cast. In the end he was pleased about not getting the part, as the plastic surgery required for the role would have been just too much.

Worth a try, but Gary didn't even make the Titanic shortlist.

Gary auditioned for the role of Fox Mulder in the X-Files. In this still taken from his screen test, Gary is abducted by aliens.

The South Park creators are such big Numan fans that they wanted him to provide the voice for one of the characters, who was to be named after him. However, the job clashed with his recording and touring committments, so the deal fell through and the character was renamed Kenny.

In his audition for the role of Daniel in The Karate Kid, Gary shows his mastery of the crane position.
